Tip #1 - SHARE A COMMON GOAL!
Groups with a fundraising goal are the most successful. Examples include shade areas for schools/ pre schools, computers, books for the library, staff Christmas parties, sports trips, uniforms, equipment, air conditioning etc. The list is endless but make sure that all participants know the specific reason why the money is being raised!
Tip #2 - GET SOME HELP!
Get organized and get help! It makes contacting people easier if you have helpers rather than shoulder the work load alone.
Tip #3 - COMMUNICATE!
Use all available means of increasing awareness of your group's efforts: e-mail lists, phone calling tree, newsletters, flyers, bulletin boards etc. Advertise your fundraising success to keep people motivated.
Tip #4 - BUILD AN EMAIL LIST!
Ask for an e-mail address. This can make for a faster response and contacting people a lot easier and quicker for you.
Tip #5 - BE ENTHUSIASTIC!
When talking with members of your group be enthusiastic about the information you are giving them - your enthusiasm can be contagious!
Tip #6 - PRESENT TO YOUR GROUP
AN ATTITUDE OF GRATITUDE!
Let the taste testers know you and your committee appreciate their support towards this fundraiser!
Tip #7 - MAKE IT FUN!
Make the experience for both you and your group members a FUN experience! Provide an incentive prize.
Tip #8 - TALK ABOUT IT!
Continually talk about the taste testing, when it is on, what time, where it is being held etc. The more times you mention it to people in your group the more they will remember it - word of mouth!
Tip #9 - AVOID CLASHES!
At the planning stage try and avoid clashes with other group commitments or other engagements when confirming the testing date for your group for example school holidays, sporting gala days, award nights etc.
We would like to thank our coordinators for their assistance with putting together these tips!
